The first review received 2 stars, and titled their review Pretty awful, which shows that the audiences opinions differ from brilliant to awful. They state that Wes Anderson, the filmmaker, is a 'wanna' be film maker and has done an awful job at the film Hotel Chevalier. 

          

On the contrary some of the reviews were very positive, the say how the enjoyed the piece of short film which was presented to them by Wes Anderson. they loved the tone, sight and sound of the film. they explain how you know there is background and history within the film and it is hinted only slightly throughout the scenes and screenplay.

Most of the reviews were positive, giving positive feedback and/or constructive criticism. they enjoyed the screenplay and the slight suspense which they lead through the scenes which made the audience question what had previously happened even-though hints were thrown in the duration of the film. it was a quirky screenplay with unusual parts but altogether as a whole, made an effective short film.
